This short book about 100 yen stores can be read just after completing the second lesson in the Genki textbook. The simple vocabulary, repetition and use of simple direct speech statements makes it a very beginner friendly reading material for learners of other textbooks as well.
As shown in the pictures below, the text in this book consists mainly of direct speech in speech bubbles, and their content is strongly based on the vocabulary and grammar taught in the Genki textbook. There are no kanji in this book and even for numbers and for katakana you will get support in the form of hiragana reading hints right above them. The overall reading comprehension is further supported by the illustrations.
